Alternative Energy

Renewable energy (alternative energy or clean energy) is any naturally occurring source of energy, that is not extracted/taken from fossil (coal or gas) or nuclear fuel.

In the dictionary the meaning of renewable is:

endless, sustainable, continual, extendable, bountiful…

Renewable energy comes from natural sources or processes that are constantly replenished. Did you know that with the endless supply of renewable resources that we have on this planet, we have the potential to power the earth completely from clean energy alone.

Most people understand that to generate electricity, most power plants burn coal, crude oil or other fossil fuels. The continuous use of fossil fuels is really bad for the environment. This is because:

  • burning fossil fuels emits a number of air pollutants that are harmful to both the environment and public health,
  • and fossil fuels are not renewable.

So why do so few people use renewable energy in their homes, businesses and general lives?

The Cost:

The main obstacle in using alternative energy is that most people think that the overall cost of it is expensive. The technology required to generate power from renewables can be expensive, but there are so many new cheaper possibilities coming out all the time. This becomes less of an issue in countries where government grants are available to help subsidize investment in renewables. The problem is that not all countries offer such incentives, but the cost of renewables continues to fall year on year, and the varieties are constantly increasing. (source cleanenergyideas.com)

This is good news for all of us
Education:

Another reason is a lack of renewable energy education that still exists. This results in a lower adoption of clean energy solutions, as people either don’t understand or appreciate the benefits.

That is the reason that we decided to put this section together on My Tip Offs:

To help people understand the incredible importance of alternative energy.
