Teaching Gumboot Kids is our way of sharing this journey with you—mud, mess, magic and all.
We don’t follow a set curriculum. Instead, our children lead the way — through their questions, interests, and unique pace. Learning happens through life, from books and baking to bugs and big conversations around the dinner table.
Whether you’re just starting out or have been walking this path a while, you’re welcome here.

Because it captures everything we believe home education should be:

💛 Our Journey
I never set out to homeschool. Like many, I assumed my kids would go to school, do their homework, and that’d be that. But life—and our children—had other plans.
Over fifteen years ago, we chose to walk a different path. A path that let us slow down. That helped us listen. That gave us space to really see our children for who they are—not who a system says they should be.
We’ve home-educated four children with wildly different personalities, needs, and learning styles. And you know what? It’s been messy. Beautiful. Exhausting. Life-giving. Wild and worth it.
